Enrolment Form

Come along to an introductory exploration of Print Making. You do not need prior experience – or you may be a bit rusty. This is perfect if you are interested in honing your skills before attending larger print workshops for printmaking like Australian Print Workshop in Central Fitzroy or the Firestation workshop in Malvern.

What will we do ?  We are offering x 3  full separate days of printmaking taste treats that together encompass the full spectrum of Printmaking as we know it today. We are grouping the various processes that have common threads together and making them the topics of each of the Sundays. Some will be associated with colour management , some with light and tone and some with drawing and line. As each student works through the steps they will likely know by the finish where they would like to move ahead artistically and may be interested in attending on going 2.5 hour weekly classes that will continue after the Intro workshops period finishes in February.

Day One – Planar surfaces in Printmaking

  1. Introduction to mark making- light and shade  done with pencil / Charcoal and paper
  1. Dry pointing on plastic and metal plates

Note that in the above processes- we will not be using the older traditional metal acid etching processes. Instead we will be using the new Japanese Solar plates to achieve a intaglio line to hold ink which are produced by UV light box and development in warm water using rubber gloves. Inks used in the workshop will be where possible water washup inks, made soluble with liquid plunger hand wash units like Palmolive with the exception of Lithography which requires an oil based ink a sponge and water.

Screen printing will use all acrylic water washup products made by American Speedball Company for USA schools
